BLANKSPACE .
Through the exploration of music, sound and their nuanced ways of presenting disguised concepts to the listener, I explored the feeling of flowstate throughout this EP and built conceptual ideas into each of these musical pieces from my own experiences. The title BLANKSPACE . mainly refers to a tranquil state of being that is known as flowstate, or flow, and also goes on to imply the general theme and setting of the EP: Space.

There is a heavy psychedelic influence intertwined into the conceptual storytelling of The Explorer and their journey through the mental cosmos, as each track is titled for a concept linked with my own personal experiences, thoughts and feelings, coupled with mystical and out-of-body experiences; recounting certain narratives from these collective adventures as a written story. Rather than placing the listener directly in the character's perspective, I aimed to allow for a birds-eye view of the storyline, and adopted this point of view to imply detachment from the story whilst also allowing for the listener to ponder what it would be like to embark on such an adventure with no context, as if falling asleep and waking up in the story, either witnessing it unfold or fully submerging themselves as the character.
A common idea that I often build all of my musical pieces around is that there is no set way in which the music should be heard, nor is there a direct explanation for one to grasp, rather it is a creation to be created in the mind of that who bears witness, with my own perspective as a mere suggestion rather than ‘law’, acting as a window into the mind the of the artist. I also prefer to produce music that has little-to-no speech or verbal communication, as music has provided me with a safe-haven away from the labelling and compartmentalization aspects of the human mind when language is involved. Being someone who is intellectually stimulated by speech and writing, I have always pondered a world free of language and symbols where sound itself speaks to the ideas and emotions often conveyed through speech, but devoid of any mentally allocated meaning. The EP’s title also plays on the idea of the mind as a blank space, which becomes populated with ideas and preconceptions of the world through sensory inputs.
