about

TRACK 03:
As the third track in this project, “GRAVITY” was aptly named for the ideas I aimed to explore in relation to black holes and gravitational points, strong obsessions with particular ideas as well as a sonic journey toward a black hole. I also felt that the title of the piece was rather fitting outside of the conceptual design of the track, as it is the ‘heaviest’ song on the whole EP, with the second chorus carrying the impact similar to that of heavy electronic or dubstep genres. The progression of the piece follows two concepts in tandem:

- The idea of discovering and finding your point of focus then embarking on the inward journey of uncertainty and mystery, eventually embracing the unknown and becoming one with it, accepting all that comes with your point of interest as one experience.
- Finding a black hole in space and being drawn toward it in awe, witnessing the bending and warping of the fabric of reality as you get closer, eventually realizing there is no going back from a certain point and embracing the beautiful and destructive power of such an object.

Through both concepts, I wanted to explore a feeling I experience often when being intrinsically drawn toward something of great interest, the feelings of fascination and awe which are often accompanied by a profound obsession and yearning to learn as much as I can. In many ways I believe our interests are a form of gravitational energy for us, often holding us at a distance and can grow in strength the more we feed them, pulling us closer and closer. However, this view of personal interests having a ‘gravitational’ effect on us can be applied to anything that occupies our mental faculties, regardless if it is positive or negative.
