LEAD. FOLLOW..

"LEAD. FOLLOW.." came from a session of inward exploration around the self and its relation to music and its ability to lead the listener on a journey of mystery. Whilst producing this piece, I aimed to lead the tracks sounds, and follow the tracks energy rather than solely asserting my own structures and formula to achieve the final outcome.

The title is a subtle reference to the relationship that I as an artist have with my own works, caught in an everchanging dance of duality with my own pieces, both leading and following each others energy. When producing music, I often view the pieces I create as conscious entities that breathe their own life into themselves, working in parallel with my own direction and concepts. Throughout the piece, I aimed to explore the dualistic relationship between the highs and lows of different emotions and feelings and how one must always go up to come down, leaning into the beauty and freedom that is beyond the world of dualism, seeing both peak and trough as a whole to be experienced rather than two to be differentiated and labelled.
